DMV Waterproofing Reviews

Engineer-built. Homeowner-verified.

Real Google reviews from homeowners across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Customers talk about dry basements, honest diagnosis, clean crews, and repairs that held up after real storms.

No sales script. No subcontractor shuffle. Just engineer-trained inspections, in-house crews, and waterproofing systems built for DMV soil.

What reviews keep saying

Homeowners notice the difference when the visit starts with diagnosis.

The strongest theme is simple: people felt informed before they felt sold to. That is exactly how a waterproofing company should operate.

Engineer-founded

Customers repeatedly mention clear explanations, site conditions, and practical repair plans.

Dry after storms

Several reviews specifically mention basements staying dry after rain, snowmelt, and storm cycles.

Foundation-first repairs

Drainage, sump pumps, cracks, exterior walls, and yard water are diagnosed as one system.

In-house crews

Reviews call out neat work, dependable communication, and crews that finish the repair cleanly.

Why it matters

Good reviews are not decoration. They are pattern recognition.

Anyone can say "lifetime warranty" or "free inspection." The useful question is what homeowners report after the crew leaves and the next storm hits.

Real waterproofing outcomesCustomers describe dry basements, working sump systems, sealed walls, and improved drainage.
Honest scopeReviews mention no surprise pricing, no unnecessary extras, and practical options.
Fast responseFlooded basement and storm-related reviews highlight responsive scheduling and communication.

Found some cracks in the foundation and called them. They patched the cracks and put in an interior drainage system.

After installing the French drain, water stopped pooling in the yard and the basement stayed dry. Took a few days but was worth it.

Review FAQ

Questions homeowners ask before trusting a contractor

Are these reviews real?

Yes. The review highlights are taken from Google reviews shown on the site through Trustindex, which identifies the original source as Google.

Why do reviews mention diagnosis so much?

Because basement water problems often have more than one cause. We inspect the foundation, grade, drainage, sump route, and water entry point before recommending a repair.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. DMV Waterproofing uses in-house crews, which keeps the inspection, repair plan, installation quality, and warranty under one company.

What happens after I request an inspection?

An engineer-trained inspector visits the home, identifies the likely water source, explains the repair options, and provides a written estimate.

Our Story

Built on Field Experience — Not a Business Plan

Our founders are civil engineers who began their careers as waterproofing and foundation inspectors at ECS Mid-Atlantic. For years they walked basements across the DMV, diagnosing what other contractors had missed.

In 2005 they founded DMV Waterproofing in Rockville with one rule: no subcontractors, ever. Every job done by our own engineers and crews. Today we run four local branches and six in-house crews — and we still inspect every job ourselves.

"We don't guess. We identify the real cause and fix it the right way."

Common Problems We Solve

What's Happening in Your Basement?

Is Your Basement Wet?

Water stains on walls. Puddles after a storm. White powdery residue where water keeps seeping in. These aren't inconveniences — they're signs of a foundation water problem that gets worse, not better.

Is Your Basement Cold or Damp?

A cold, clammy basement is often a sign of moisture infiltrating through your foundation walls or crawl space. Uncontrolled groundwater keeps temperatures low and humidity high — leading to mold, wood rot, and structural damage.

Does It Smell Musty?

That odor is a warning sign. Musty smells almost always mean moisture is present — and where there's moisture, mold follows. Left untreated, mold spreads through your walls and affects the air your family breathes every day.

Is Your Foundation Cracked?

A hairline crack today becomes a water entry point tomorrow. Horizontal cracks signal soil pressure. Vertical cracks indicate settlement. Stair-step cracks mean movement. These get more expensive to fix the longer you wait.

Sound familiar? We can help.

An honest, no-pressure assessment from engineers who've been doing this since 2005.

Whenever it rained, my carpet was wet at the corner of my fireplace. DMV Waterproofing — recommended by Bull Run Kitchen and Bath — arrived on time and did an excellent job. They dug eight feet below ground to find the source, replaced damaged pipe, installed 4 layers of waterproofing, and worked late despite rain all week. Highly recommend — a company you can trust.

For years I had issues with water not draining properly in my back yard. DMV Waterproofing resolved the issue professionally. Getting the estimate was easy. On the day of the job they arrived on time, explained everything clearly. After they fixed the issue, no problems at all — even after torrential rain.

Our crawl space used to get really damp but they installed a liner and a drainage system. The difference is crazy — no more mold smell or wetness. The team was professional from start to finish, and the work is clean and well-organized. Would recommend without hesitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions DMV Homeowners Ask Us

How much does basement waterproofing cost in the DMV area?

Cost varies based on basement size, water source, and the solution required. Most residential projects in DC, Maryland, and Virginia range from $3,000 to $15,000. Interior drainage (FootingShield™) typically runs $8,000–$18,000. Crack repair starts around $500–$1,500 per crack. Exterior waterproofing (WallShield™) is more involved at $15,000–$40,000+. We provide free written estimates with 0% APR financing available.

What makes DMV Waterproofing different?

We're engineer-founded — our founders are civil engineers who spent years at ECS Mid-Atlantic inspecting foundations before starting DMV Waterproofing in 2005. Unlike competitors who use shallow plastic drain channels, our FootingShield™ system installs drain tile at footer depth (up to 16" deep) — intercepting water before it ever reaches your basement floor. We never use subcontractors. Every job is performed by our own trained, full-time crews.

How long does a waterproofing project take?

Most interior waterproofing (FootingShield™) jobs are completed in 1–2 days. Exterior excavation projects (WallShield™) typically take 3–5 days depending on home size. Our team works efficiently to minimize disruption.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We back our waterproofing and foundation work with a written lifetime warranty on interior drainage systems. Exterior waterproofing carries a 25-year written warranty, functionally lifetime if the membrane is undisturbed. Crack injection is warrantied for 25 years.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer 0% APR financing through Wisetack for projects from $500 to $25,000. Terms range from 3 to 120 months — no penalties, no late fees, no compounding interest. Rates start at 0% APR for 3-month plans. Subject to credit approval.

Do you serve all of DC, Maryland, and Virginia?

Yes. We operate from four branches — Rockville (main office), Kensington (serves DC + Lower Montgomery), Ashburn (Loudoun County), and Manassas (Prince William County). Together we cover the entire DC metropolitan area.

Should my sump pump have a battery backup?

Yes — strongly recommended. Power outages most commonly occur during heavy storms, exactly when your sump pump is working hardest. A battery backup ensures your basement stays protected even when power goes out. We install battery backup systems as part of our FootingShield™ packages.
